2ND INTERNATIONAL BIOSAFETY SEMINAR

International Biosafety Seminar was held on Dec 05 2009 at Aga Khan
University Auditorium by PBSA in collaboration with IDRL Research lab
Department of Paediatrics and Child Health and Biosecurity Engagement
program (BEP). It was attended by more than 400 participants from
students enrolled in Masters and PhD program at various universities,
lab workers and management staff of diagnostic and Research lab of
Karachi and adjoining areas and field workers from Interior Sind and
Punjab. This Seminar was addresses by Dr Shamsul Arfin Qasmi (General
Secretary PBSA), Ms Jean Gratz (University of Virginia), Dr Adel Zaki
(NAMRO 3), Dr Erum Khan (AKU), Mr. Shaikh Saqib (Sure Diagnostics), on
following topics Journey of PBSA, Basic Building blocks of Biosafety,
Guidelines for transportation of Biological Agents, BSL2/3 Lab
Operation and Maintenance, Fundamentals of Biosafety cabinet and
Biosafety for field workers. The speakers delivered interactive
presentations with active participation from participants. PBSA deeply
appreciates the support from NAMRO 3, University of Virginia,
Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP), Pakistan State Oil, Sure
Diagnostics and IDRL Research Lab, Department of Paediatrics and Child
Health Aga Khan University in organizing this event.
